Pre-Conference Events

Maximize your conference experience by attending a pre-conference training event. Whether you are a seasoned conciliator or new to biblical peacemaking, there are a wide variety of events to give you the training you need. During the conference (September 25-27, 2008) there will also be specific workshops for Advanced Training.

NOTE: REGISTRATION CLOSES FOR ALL PRE-CONFERENCE EVENTS (EXCEPT CONFLICT COACHING ONLY) ON FRIDAY AUGUST 29. Registration for Conflict Coaching closes Sept 17th.

Pre-Conference Training Events – September 23-25, 2008. See the class descriptions below for specific training dates.

  •  Conflict Coaching Training - This training is a one and a half day training focusing on conflict coaching. This specially-designed event equips you to coach an individual to go one-on-one to the other party in the conflict to settle differences, just between the two of them, using a personal peacemaking response.

    Dates of Training: September 24-25, 2008; Time: September 24 3:00pm-5:30pm, September 25 8:00am-6:30pm;  Cost: $129
  •  Reconciling Church Conflict  -  This training is designed as an in-depth training preparing you to intervene in organizational conflicts. Due to the terminology of various church traditions you will choose from one of the following church tradition tracks for focused case study: Broadly Evangelical (elder-led congregational polity), Presbyterian & Reformed (elder-rule polity with a connection to the regional church), Baptist (traditional deacon board congregational polity), and Lutheran (voter assembly congregational polity with elders).

    Dates of Training: September 23-25, 2008;  Time: 8:00am-6:30pm; Cost $545

    Pre-requisite: Conflict Coaching and Mediation
  •  Reconciling Marital Conflict  -  This training is designed to address the unique emotional, spiritual, and practical aspects inherent in marital conflict. It provides training in the process and skills needed to assist couples that are experiencing marital conflict and are working toward reconciliation within their marriage.

    Dates of Training: September 24-25, 2008; Time: 8:00am-6:30pm; Cost: $545

    PLEASE NOTE: This event is a gender-specific event and must have an equal number of male and female participants in order for the role-plays included in the training to be most effective. When the registration limit (24 men + 24 women) has been reached, a "wait" list will be started. You will contacted if your registration for this event is accepted.

    ***As of August 22, 2008 this event has been closed for registration for male students. If you are a female, you can still register for this event.***

     Pre-requisite: Conflict Coaching and Mediation

  •  Teaching Peacemaking Cross-Culturally  -  This training is designed to provide you with an introduction to cultural differences and how they affect the teaching of biblical peacemaking in other cultures, whether nationally or internationally. The training provides guidance in cross-cultural teaching practices and preparation for the cross-cultural teaching experience.

    Dates of Training: September 23-25, 2008; Time: 8:00am-6:30pm; Cost: $495

    Pre-requisite: Conflict Coaching and Mediation
  • Conflict Coaching & Mediation Training -  This training is designed to serve as a foundation for biblical peacemaking. Conflict coaching equips you to coach an individual to go one-on-one to the other party in the conflict to settle differences, just between the two of them, using a personal peacemaking response. Mediation training equips you to assist all parties involved in a conflict to seek a resolution and reconciliation.

    Dates of Training: September 23-25, 2008; Time: 8:00am-6:30pm; Cost: $595

    *Homework required; will be mailed to you prior to the training event
  •  Certification Course  -  This training is designed to help you provide services for resolving conflicts in more intense and complex conflicts that may have more parties and deeper issues. This training also provides an introduction to the arbitration process, demonstrations, and a half-day role play.

    Dates of Training: September 23-25, 2008; Time: 8:00am-6:30pm; Cost: $675

Lunch is not included or provided. Snacks for breaks are included.

Check-in for all events, excluding Conflict Coaching only, starts at 6:30am on the day the training begins. Check-in for Conflict oaching only begins at 2:00pm on September 24.
