"God reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5:18
Peacemaker Ministries' Advanced Training covers a variety of specialized topics. This training will increase your knowledge and skills necessary to assist others involved in more complex and difficult conflicts such as marriage and divorce, multiple parties/multiple issues, formal arbitration and reconciling church conflict.
Instruction is offered in the form of lectures, demonstrations and role-play activities that allow you to apply the specific skills needed for effective conciliation.
Peacemaker Ministries' Advanced Training includes Certification Training and special training, all of which you will want to consider as you mature in the service of generating a culture of peace.
CERTIFICATION TRAINING EVENT
This training, required as part of the Certification Program, is designed to help you provide services for resolving conflicts in more intense and complex conflicts that may have more parties and deeper issues. This training also provides an introduction to the arbitration process that can be used within a church setting and conducted by people who are not attorneys or professional counselors. It is a three-day live training, involving lectures, demonstrations, individual exercises, and a half-day role-play. In the role-play, each participant will conduct a case that transitions from mediation to a simple arbitration requiring a written decision. This training requires prior completion of the Conflict Coaching and Mediation Training.
This two-day training is designed by highly experienced and skilled Christian conciliators who intervene in the deeply painful conflicts within marriages. This course is designed to address the unique emotional, spiritual, and practical aspects inherent in marital conflict. It will provide you with training in the process and skills needed to assist couples that are experiencing marital conflict and are working toward reconciliation within their marriage.
In spite of religious convictions or commitment to marriage, many Christians find themselves in a divorce -- either by their choice or against their will. Emotions run rampant and a court process can push these emotions to the brink. Coping with the consequences in the years after divorce can be overwhelming, especially when children are involved. When Christians are caught up in the painful whirlwind of a divorce or the consequences thereafter, what can a friend, a family member, their lawyer, and their church do to help them go through it redemptively? This one-day training uses lecture, interactive discussion and case studies.
As your ministry grows and receives more complex or difficult cases, it is often necessary to use a more formal process to help direct and serve the individuals in conflict. This one-day training helps you understand and apply specific administrative guidelines and procedures. Using multi-media presentations, case studies and role-play to explain Case Administration, this training will cover the topics of data gathering and management, fund management, and assisting the parties and conciliators to follow The Rules of Procedure for Christian Conciliation. This training will help you ensure that the people seeking your help experience the safe environment you seek to provide.
This three-day training is designed by experienced and skilled Christian conciliators and is an in-depth training preparing you to intervene in organizational conflicts (church congregations and other large groups). Peacemaker Ministries has learned that understanding of the governance structure and language associated with specific traditions is critical for successful outcomes of such interventions. Therefore, you will choose from among one of the following church tradition tracks for the purpose of focused case study: Broadly Evangelical (elder-led congregational polity), Presbyterian & Reformed (elder-rule polity with a connection to the regional church), Baptist (traditional deacon board congregational polity), Lutheran (voter assembly congregational polity with elders).
This three-day training provides an introduction to cultural differences and how they affect the teaching of biblical peacemaking in other cultures, whether in North America or internationally. It covers a discussion of generic cultural differences and introduces a tool for identifying values in a new culture. An overview of teaching styles and various cultural responses to conflict will enable the participant to apply new understanding to case studies and to subsequent teaching opportunities. The training provides guidance in cross-cultural teaching practices and preparation for the cross-cultural teaching experience.
This two-day, in-depth review and application of the Rules of Procedure for Christian Conciliation to a formal arbitration serves as an alternative to secular court procedures and/or secular arbitrations. This training uses lecture, demonstration, role-plays and participant interactions, and preparing a written decision based upon the role-play arbitration, to teach the arbitration process. This course is designed for individuals who have completed the Certification Training and will be serving as arbitrators in more formal proceedings.
