Case Administration

This training is designed for individuals who are serving in their local church through a Peacemaking Team or reconciliation ministry as the administrator for the ministry.  It will also benefit conciliators who either serve as part of a formal Christian conciliation ministry or offer their services as a Christian conciliator to their communities.

The training covers the following topics:

  • The importance of an efficient and consistent case administration process which promotes healing as well as personal, process, and product satisfaction;
  • Determining the level of formality required and fashioning the process to meet the needs of the parties.
  • Helping the parties identify the issues to be addressed in the mediation and/or arbitration.
  • Designing and using homework assignments to prepare the parties and to assist the mediator.
  • Distinguishing between mediation (helping two or more parties reach their own agreement) and arbitration (having another spiritually mature person decide an issue for the parties) and how to help the parties select the appropriate process;
  • How to select and prepare the mediator and/or arbitrator
  • How to move confidently from mediation to arbitration in a mediation-arbitration setting;
  • Understanding how both mediation and arbitration processes work and how to adapt and modify these processes for use within the local church.
