Peacemaker Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational ministry whose mission is to equip and assist Christians and their churches to respond to conflict biblically. We provide conflict coaching, mediation and arbitration services to help resolve lawsuits, family conflicts, business disputes, and church divisions. Our training services include seminars, conflict coaching training, mediation training, advanced mediation and arbitration training for conciliators and church leaders working within their churches, as well as training for individuals conducting more formal and complex proceedings.
The division of Peacemaker Ministries which provides mediation and arbitration services and conflict coaching, mediation, arbitration, advanced courses, and certification is the Institute for Christian Conciliation (ICC).
Peacemaker Ministries was founded in 1982 under the auspices of the Christian Legal Society, which helped to establish many similar ministries throughout the United States. In 1987, many of these conciliation ministries joined together to form the Association of Christian Conciliation Services (ACCS), which was designed to coordinate national networking, education, and conciliation activities. The ACCS developed uniform Rules of Procedure for Christian Conciliation, a Standard of Conduct for Christian Conciliators, and a standardized training and certification program which were adopted by the local conciliation ministries comprising its membership. From 1989 to 1993, Peacemaker Ministries served as the national headquarters for the ACCS, governed by a board of directors drawn from several local conciliation ministries. Day-to-day leadership and administration of ACCS was provided through the Christian Conciliation Service of Montana under the direction of Mr. Ken Sande.
Ken Sande is president of Peacemaker Ministries and author of The Peacemaker, which has been translated into ten languages. He is passionate about bringing the life-changing power of the gospel and the wisdom of God's peacemaking principles into the lives of Christians and their churches. His early experience in engineering and law fueled his desire to dedicate his life to biblical peacemaking, resulting in his decision 25 years ago to found Peacemaker Ministries.
In 1993 the Christian Conciliation Service of Montana changed its name to the Institute for Christian Conciliation Services ( ICC) to better reflect its national ministry focus. The ICC and ACCS were formally merged in December, 1993 with the name of The Institute for Christian Conciliation being the name under which the merged organization operated.
In January 1997, the ICC changed its official name to Peacemaker Ministries, retaining the Institute for Christian Conciliation as the name of its conciliation and professional certification division.
